“From start to finish, Michael and Kate paid every attention to detail that goes into a quality guided Texas Hunt. Upon arriving at the sprawling property, there were signs of deer and wildlife everywhere. The impressive drive in leads to the hunting quarters, a renovated school house built in the 1800’s, the lodge, a huge building with a bar room, large kitchen, and well kept outdoor fire pit area. The deer cleaning and cooler storage area are immaculately clean and contain everything for the storing and packing of game taken during the hunt, including ice! One of my favorite features was the shooting range, complete with benches and targets out to 800 yards. Needless to say, its not exactly ‘roughing it’ in the No Name Ranch Hunters quarters! Each meal was home made and from a customized menu, which was awesome for getting to get to know Michael and Kate and the story of the ranch, as we ate together each day and enjoyed hunting stories and sharing personal stories.
After quickly testing zero, Michael drove me around the ranch so that I could see the sprawling acres and acres of hunting property. The land is so well maintained and strategically laid out to maximize the experience and provide the best setting for the animals inhabiting the ranch. With multiple blinds at various distances, the ranch is ideal for hunters desiring any range shot, including blinds suited for larger groups and wheel chairs. The sheer number of quality bucks and does at nearly every turn had my heart racing for what was to come and I was ready to get to glassing!
Michael is definitely a great conservationist and looking out for his population! There were a few bucks I wanted to jump out of the blind for, and Michael was quick to age them at a distance, so that his future young bucks can become Trophy Quality Deer… I can’t wait to go back and see these guys grow. We started out with two doe to calm the nerves and help with the population control. Michael works with a group that will donate the meat to the needy if you don’t want to take it all back with you. He and Kate are so gracious for this. On the second afternoon, we glassed a ton of bucks, but decided that we would wait on a mature buck for the final day in order to maintain ethical management of the population.
The big day arrived, it was the last session, full rut, and the bucks could be anywhere! Michael and I decided on an area of the ranch we hadn’t hunted and started out in the early morning to get situated. After glassing multiple bucks over two hours, Michael let me know that we had two quality mature shooters, a great 10 pointer and a great 8 pointer. He told me the rest was up to me! We settled on the 8 pointer because he was absolutely a stud with super high and wide beams. I was glowing, nervous, and Michael assured me that I had it! Once the buck stepped clear away from some does, it was all smiles as I dropped him cleanly at a little over 100 yards. Michael was beyond excited for me and we took our time admiring a HUGE 8 pointer that had such quality, color, and a massive rack for an 8 pointer. After taking some pictures we headed back to the ranch to get cleaned up.
Michael walked me through how he cleans the deer and I was able to pick multiple tricks to make the process easier. After packing everything up and it was time to wrap up my time at the ranch for 2021. I walked away with a massive 8 pointer that we scored at almost 132” using the Boone & Crockett scoring method. More importantly, I walked away with an experience that can’t be beat. Every attention to detail, every inch of the property, every consideration was made by Michael and Kate. They are friends and amazing people. No Name Ranch should be considered for any level of hunter looking for unique and customized experiences. Whether you want your child to have a great first hunt, are new to hunting, or experienced and wanting a trophy Texas buck, No Name Ranch is your destination for a quality experience. I cannot wait to get back out in 2022 with No Name Ranch!”

“I still can’t believe the quantity of deer and quality of bucks I saw while I was there. Everything was top notch, from the deer hunting, the facilities, the food, and of course the people.”
